Humanity
for All

Équité is a nonprofit trust established on May 2017, by a passionate group of human rights activists. Guided by a shared commitment to equity and inclusion, our closely-knit team comprises multidisciplinary experts specializing in research, policy advocacy, human rights, and development and humanitarian programs. Together, we work toward fostering meaningful change and creating equal opportunities for marginalized communities across Sri Lanka. Our mission is to build a community that acknowledges, respects, and protects the rights of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression

We work to

We work to
bring the love they deserve

A central objective of our work is to achieve the decriminalization of same-sex relationships in Sri Lanka. Currently, the legal framework in our country criminalizes consensual same-sex activity, which poses a significant threat to the human rights and dignity of LGBTIQ+ individuals. We firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live authentically and without the threat of discrimination, violence, or marginalization.
Our work also encompasses various sectors, including employment, housing, healthcare, education, and access to public services, striving to secure recognition of LGBTIQ+ rights.
